Introduced during the Meiji Restoration through British influence (originally inspired by Indian cuisine), curry was reimagined to suit Japanese tastes, becoming sweeter, smoother, and deeply savoury. Today, it’s a staple across Japan, from home kitchens to anime-style school cafeterias.
