New Digimon series in October
Join us as we look at the new Digimon Universe, take a sneak peek at Dragon Ball Super episode 47, learn more about Fukigen na Mononokean and learn how to make a yummy Japanese Potato Salad.
There have been many reincarnations of Digimon in anime over the years: Digimon Adventure, Digimon Adventure 02, Digimon Tamers, Digimon Frontier, Digimon Savers, Digimon Xros Wars and more recently the Digimon Adventure Tri movies. Now a new anime series, as well as games, are set to take over the world in October.
The new anime series is called Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters and according to the Dengeki Online website the key to the anime plot are smartphone apps, something that almost every smartphone user make use off. Hiding inside these apps are AI lifeforms called ‘app monsters’ or ‘appmon’ for short, all with the ability to think and act.
Directing the anime is Gou Koga (One Piece Episode of Sabo), and the script supervisor is Yoichi Kato (Monster Strike). Character design is done by Kenichi Ohnui (Gundam Build Fighters). Cast members announced include Yumi Uchiyama as Haru Shinkai, Kokoro Kikuchi as Gacchimon and Wataru Takagi as the Appli Drive. The anime is aimed at young boys and there is also a digital cards game, toys, a game and a magazine in the works.

Dragon Ball Super
Last Friday we mentioned that the Future Trunks Saga Arc in Dragon Ball Super would start with Episode 47. This storyline features a new plot and characters by Akira Toriyama himself, the creator of the Dragon Ball Franchise. Toei posted a promo of Episode 47, just to whet our appetites!

Fukigen na Mononokean (The Morose Mononokean)
The official website for Kiri Wazawa’s Fukigen na Momomokean (The Morose Mononokean) started streaming a third promo video. The video preview ‘Tomodachi Meter by The Super Ball, the anime’s opening song, as well as “Tobira no Mukō” by Tomoaki Maeno and Yuuki Kaji, the anime’s ending song.
The anime is directed by Akira Iwanaga (ISUCA) and the series composition writer is Takao Yoshioka (High School DxD). On character design is Atsuko Kageyama while Yasuharu Takanishi (Fairy Tail) is composing the music. Fukigen na Mononokean is set to premiere on 28th July 2016, but an advance screening event is set to take place on June 4th at United Cinemas Toyosu in Tokyo.
The cast for Fukigen na Mononokean include: Yuki Kaji (Attack on Titan), Tomoaki Maeno (Yona of the Dawn), Ayahi Takagaki (Gundam Reconguista in G), Ikue Ohtani (Pikachu in Pokémon), Yoko Hikasa (K-ON!), Chinami Hashimoto (Prison School) and Junichi Suwabe (The Prince of Tennis)
In the manga, our hero Ashiya spends seven days stuck in the infirmary thanks to a yōkai that attached itself to him. He eventually asks the owner of ‘Monokean”, a small tea room for help. Will they find a way to guide the yōkai back to its own world?

Japanese Potato Salad
One of the things we all love with a barbecue (or Braai) is Potato Salad. There are various ways to prepare potato salad and every household has its secret recipe. We are lucky enough to see a Japanese Potato Salad recipe today.
The salad is extremely easy to make and you only need the following ingredients: 3 small potatoes, 1 cucumber, 3-4 slices ham, 2 eggs, 3-6 tbsp mayonnaise (your preference but in the video they use Japanese mayonnaise), 1 tsp vinegar, salt, and pepper.
