Tai Taichi Yagami and Agumon – Re-Release

To many of us the names of ‘Tai’, ‘Taichi’ and ‘Agumon’ stir up fond memories of the 1995 anime Digimon Adventure and the Digimon Adventure Tri movies. Many will think of the song that plays every time a Digimon digivolve into a new form. Digimon Adventure will always be special to many because the anime is about friendship and the strengthening of that bond in times of adversity. We look today, not at Taichi from Digimon Adventure Tri, but at Taichi when he was a kid in the old series.

Taichi ‘Tai’ Yagami

Tai is the main character of Digimon Adventure and Digimon Aventure Tri and one of the DigiDestined. He is the bearer of the Crest of Courage and his Digimon partner is, of course, Agumon. He is the older brother of Kari. His goggles are a characteristic that became a signature look with all of the various Digidestined leaders in Digimon.

Back in 1995’s Digimon Adventure, when we met him, he was a little boy with lightly tanned skin, spiky brown hair and brown eyes. He wore a blue shirt with long sleeves, orange stars near his shoulders and a yellow collar. His black pants had a grey vertical line on each, and he had yellow sneakers with a yellow line in the back. To top his look off he had light grey goggles with a black strap, which he wore around his neck.

The name Agumon actually only refers to his Rookie Digimon form. In Digimon Adventure, he gained the ability to digivolve into many more powerful forms, each with different abilities and with different names, but he prefers o stay in his rookie form. He is kind, compassionate and very cautious and follows and protects Tai whole-heartedly. He can be very philosophical especially when trying to help his dark twin BlackWarGreymon when he questions his purpose. Some of his attacks include Pepper Breath and Claw Attack.

Agumon and Tai both are very courageous. They can both be hotheaded at times, especially when their friends are in danger. They also love to joke around and are very hilarious.

The paint job is quite admirable. The shading is nicely done.

Sculpting – 8
The sculpting is so close to the anime that if feels as if the dynamic duo just jumped out of the anime.

Design – 9
The design team really knows their Digimon Adventure well. The bond between Tai and Agumon can be ‘felt’ in the design. They considered what we like about Digimon Adventure and translated it well to the figurines.
