New Novel in the Naruto Franchise

New Novel in the Naruto Franchise

A new novel featuring Kakashi, Guy and Asuma’s daughter!

Announced in this year’s second volume of Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump NEXT!! Magazine a new Konoha Shinden novel project has been announced. It will feature Guy, Kakashi, and Mirai (Asuma and Kurenai’s daughter and will take place at an onsen (hot spring). The novel is a bridge between Naruto and Baruto and is to be set between the final chapter of the Naruto manga and the Naruto: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring spin-off manga. The project is to be illustrated by Shō Hinata who illustrated the Naruto – Konoha Hiden: Shūgen Biyori novel.

After the end of the Naruto manga in 2014, Shueisha published 10 novels based on the Naruto franchise. Six of them, the Hiden (Hidden Legend) series revolve around a specific character or characters like Kakashi, Shikamaru, Gaara, and Sakura. The Shinden (True Legend) novels use different characters than the Hiden series, and it contains three novels. The two Itachi Shinden novels inspired the current arc of the Naruto Shippūden anime and then there is the Sasuke Shinden novel. The last novel Shueisha released is Naruto: Dojunjō Ninden (Naruto: The Tale of the Utterly Pure hearted Shinobi), which they released in August 2015.

With the Itachi Shinden novels that inspired the current arc in the Naruto Shippūden, we may see more of these novels adapted to anime series, maybe even to anime movies. If we think of all the manga, spinoff manga, and novels there are endless possibilities to come. Perhaps a Boruto anime series, featuring lives of the next generation! New stories of Naruto are born every day. The legend of Naruto and his friends keeps growing so everything is possible.
