Sadako vs. Kayako

Friday Kadokawa Films started to stream the first trailer for the Sadako vs. Kayako J-Horror movie and at last, we can take a peek into what to expect. In the video, it is confirmed that ‘a cursed house’ and ‘a video with a curse’ will intersect in ‘the greatest of Japanese horrors’. The video also previews “Noroi no Sha Na Na Na’ the movie’s theme song by Sekima II. This long-awaited horror movie will open in Japan on June 18.

The cast of the movie includes Mizuki Yamamoto, Tina Tamashiro, Masahiro Komoto, Aimi Satsukawa, Masanobu Ando and Misato Tanaka. Kōji Shiraishi (The Curse, A Record of Sweet Murder) is directing Sadako vs. Kayako. The movie brings together two icons of the Japanese Horror movies Sadako from Kadokawa’s Ring franchise and Kayako from the Ju-on franchise.

In June 2015, the latest movie in the Ju-on series Ju-on: The Final, opened in Japan and was marketed as the last movie of the Franchise. In 2004, the movies received a Hollywood remake and two sequels, know as The Grudge. The Ring movies are based on Koji Suzuki’s novel of the same name and the franchise made 5 movies, as well as the two Sadako 3D movies. Hollywood made a remake in 2002 and two sequels. Last year Ju-On’s official website ran an April Fool’s joke on a then non-existent “Sadako vs. Kayako’ movie. It seems even jokes can come ‘horribly’ true and surely all Sadako and Kayako horror fanatiks out there are happy it did.
