Beyblade Burst anime premiere date spinning closer

Beyblade Burst due for April

Remember Beyblade? There were times when children longingly watched the clock on the walls of their school classrooms for the school day to end so that they could get home to watch the next episode. Well, get ready for Beyblade Burst.

The February issue of Shogakukan’s Coro Coro Comics magazine announced that the next installment to the franchise, Beyblade Burst will premiere in April. The issue also mentioned that the anime’s battle scenes will be rendered in 3D CG and introduced two characters: Bart Aoi, a hot-blooded kid who loves to attack, wielding a Beyblade named Valkyrie; and Shū Kurenai, an elite genius who wields the Beyblade named Spriggan.

In the director’s seat is Katsuhito Akiyama (Bubblegum Crisis) with character designs by Toshiaki Ōhashi (Danbōru Senki Wars) and Hideki Sonoda (Pokémon franchise) is in charge of the series scripts.

Beyblade Burst based on the third generation of Beyblade toys that Takara Tomy launched in Japan in July features a Burst gizmo that lets players “destroy” their opponents’ tops, the ability to view Beyblade records on the Bey Cloud System, which is the evolution of the toy with miniature NFC chips.

These toys inspired a manga series in 2000-2003, which then inspired the three television anime series (Beyblade, Beyblade: V-Force, and Beyblade G Revolution) between 2001-2003, to be followed by the Beyblade the Movie: Fierce Battle (2002). Later a spinoff manga, Metal Fight Beyblade, inspired the Beyblade: Metal Fusion, Beyblade: Metal Masters, Beyblade: Metal Fury, and Beyblade: Shogun Steel television anime series, as well as the Metal Fight Beyblade VS Taiyō Shakunetsu no Shinryakusha film.

It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but in all honesty, the franchise is huge and profitable, and every generation a new batch of Beyblade fanatiks join the fandom. Chances are that you, reading here, used to be or still are a Beyblade fanatik.
