Rukia, the Kawaii Shinigami from Bleach

Rukia, the Kawaii Shinigami from Bleach

Let’s meet Rukia Kuchiki

If you have watched the anime Bleach, you know that Rukia is the first Shinigami (Death God) we meet in the anime series. Rukia is the lieutenant of the 13th Division under Captain Jūshirō Ukitake. Rukia is the adoptive sister of Byakuya Kuchiki and a close friend of Ichigo Kurosaki.

Our adventures with Rukia in Karakura town. Rukia sensed a strong presence and is drawn to a house where she enters someone’s bedroom. Inside the bedroom a boy kicks at her, thinking she is a burglar, and she is very surprised because normal humans are not supposed to be able to see her. That is how she and Ichigo Kurosaki became friends.

This meeting between them is the start of many adventures that leads to various planes of existence like Seireitei (Soul Society) and Hueco Mundo (Hollow World). Many friendships are formed between her and Ichigo’s friends and we have fun watching her explore the human world. There is much to love about this adorable character: Her cute fascination with coffee milk and her sleeping in Ichigo’s closet are some of the fondest memories about her character in the Human World. Another hilarious trait that we loved is that she every time she explains something in deep detail she draws it out with cute rabbits representing people, and the other characters’ reactions to her drawings.

Rukia is officially the first Bleach character Tite Kubo created after he was inspired to make a manga about Shinigami fighting in kimonos. According to Tite Kubo, her theme song is Wing Stock by Ashley MacIsaac. Rukia has constantly been the most popular character in Bleach and her Zanpakutō was even cited as the second most popular Zanpakutō in recent polls!
