The Inuyama Festival

Held every year on the first Saturday and Sunday of April (4 –5 April 2015) this little festival is held in Inuyama at the Haritsuna shrine with 13 three-layered floats decorated with beautiful drapes. The floats are 25 feet high and are accompanied with people playing flutes and drums.

At night 365 lanterns light every float and with the cherry blossoms of spring in bloom this must be an unforgettable sight both at night and day.

This festival dates back to 1635, but was officially recognized by the Japanese Government in 2006, as an ‘intangible folk cultural property’.
