Konnichiwa Minna, it is week two of our Muteki Kanban Musume (Ramen Fighter Miki) challenge. Our main character in Muteki Kanban Musume is Miki Onimaru. Even if she is 20 years old, she has the mindset and maturity of a 23-year old. She is fiercely competitive and that is the quality that makes her stand out most. She loves to start fights and competitions, and is a force to be reconed with thanks to her physical strength and unpredictable fighting style. Don’t misjudge her, as violent as Miki may be she is actually a kind-hearted caring young woman, always willing to help people in need.
Miki’s voice actress is Hitomi Nabatame, born August 4, 1976. Hitomi is a Japanese actress, voice actress and vocalist affiliated with Ken Productions. Some of her voice acting roles include Gantz (Kei Kishimoto), Hell Girl (Ayumi Shibata), Skip Beat! (Itsumi Momose), Beelzebub (Torii), Akame ga Kill! (Nyau), Black Bullet (Shiina Kazumi), Rail Wars! Konnichiwa Minna, welcome to week 3 of our Muteki Kanban Musume (Ramen Fighter Miki) challenge. This week we feature our main rival in the anime, Megumi Kannazuki. She is Miki’s long time rival and is the delivery girl for the bakery right across from Onimaru, the ramen shop where Miki works. She is also 20 years old. Megumi’s weapon of choice are the throwing of sharpened bamboo skewers (which she throw like darts); a skill she learned from her elementary school teacher who threw chalk at sleeping students. Megumi may moan that she is bullied relentlessly by Miki, but is by no means innocent, she often set traps for Miki. Like Miki, she has a kind-hearted side too, especially when helping children in need. When she gets drunk, Megumi becomes a crude and violent tomboy.
Megumi’s Japanese voice actress is Tokyo born Ami Koshimizu, who was born on February 15th 1986. She voiced quite a number of lead characters in anime including Sailor Jupiter in Sailor Moon Crystal, Tenma Tsukamoto in School Rumble and Holo in Spice and Wolf. She was rewarded Best Actress in a supporting role at the 1st Seiyu Award for her role as Kallen Stadtfeld in Code Geass in 2007. More notable voice acting roles she is known for are Claes in Gunslinger Girl, Anemone in Eureka Seven, Miori Shiba in Black Bullet, Sasane Ukawa in Sagradqa Reset and the mother spider demon in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
This week’s challenge is episodes 7 to 9. We hope you enjoy the challenge and have a super sugoi week.
Week 4 - 23rd September to 29th September 2019
Episodes to watch: 10 – 12
Konnichiwa Minna, welcome to the final week of our Muteki Kanban Musume (Ramen Fighter Miki) challenge. Our episodes for this week are episodes 10 to 12. If you liked Muteki Kanban Musume we recommend that you watch Yakitate!! Japan.
Yakitate!! Japan’s centers around Kazuma Azuma, a boy with a passion for baking bread and a quest to create the ‘Ja-Pan’, the national bread of Japan, celebrating the country of his birth. Azuma wants to capture both the hearts and mouths of the Japanese people. In the anime he heads to Tokyo and starts to work at Pantasia, a massive bakery and each episode chronicles his escapades and adventures with his co-workers, as well as the interesting types of bread he creates along the way.
To aid him in his quest, Azuma has a special, almost magical, ability called ‘Solar Hands’ (Taiyō no te). Solar Hands imbues him with the power of having hands that are warmer than normal body temperature, which allows the dough to ferment faster. It gives him some great advantages, but his true power in this anime is definitively his innovative mind.
A running theme in the anime is the ‘state of ecstasy’ people experience when they eat good food. Here is such a classic scene from the anime.
We hope you enjoyed the challenge and will have a look at our recommendation, Yakitate!! Japan. Have a super sugoi week.
