Don’t know what to watch then our monthly challenge is here to help you. Sometimes something nostalgic and sometimes a series that will fit in with the theme of the month. We especially like October… HALLOWEEN! 

Check in every week to see which episodes to watch of the current series. Usually no more than 3 episodes and easy to fit into the busiest schedule. Don’t forget to go view our events page to see when we will have our next anime day.

Hakuouki Shinsengumi

June 2018 - Hakuouki Reimeiroku

Hakuouki Reimeiroku Is the third in a series of a three season anime, but it is a prequel to the first two seasons. The whole series consists of Hakuoki, Hakuoki: Hekketsuroku (second season) anime and Hakuoki: Reimeiroku (third season and prequel). 

The anime takes us to the year 1863, Japan is victim to violent waves of street clashes and murder and the Tokugawa Shogunate sends the Roshigumi, a new force of masterless samurai to aid the Aizu forces in Kyoto.  This new ‘police’ force is split between two opposing factions, respectively led by Serizawa Kamo and Isami Kondo. A man named Ryunosuke Ibuki, forced to be a slave by blood debt hates the samurai and what they stand for, and hopes that there will be a chance for both himself and Japan, if Kondo can beat the rabid Serizawa.

Blade and Soul

May 2018 - Blade & Soul

Blade & Soul tells the tale of Alka, an assassin for the Clan of the Sword. She is on a self-imposed quest to find a woman named Jin Valel, the woman who killed Alka’s master, Hon. On her journey she also encounters three strange women, each a formidable warrior herself. The anime focuses on the futility of vengeance, as well as the stubbornness that envelops one when you know better but instead follows down the darker path.

Blade & Soul is a Japanese anime adaptation of a Korean fantasy martial-arts mmorpg which was developed by NCSOFT (Team Bloodlust). The anime aired from April to June 2014 and was directed by Hiroshi Hamasaki and Hiroshi Takeuchi, scripts was written by Atsuhiro Hamasaki. Production was done at Studio Gonzo.

April 2018 - Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru no Darou ka

Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru no Darou ka (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?) plays off in the city of Orario. In Orario there is the Dungeon – a place inhabited by an assortment of monsters, ranging from goblins to dragons. Adventurers visit the dungeon to take on these monsters, defeat them and harvest their crystal shards, which in turn are used to create magical items, or to be exchanged for currency. These adventurers all join groups which are called Familia. The Familia each have its own function, some focus on dungeon crawling while some focus on crafting items. Each of these Familia is named after and serves a resident deity.

Our story follows the adventures of 14-year-old Bell Cranel, the solo adventurer of the Hestia Familia, as well as Hestia herself, the deity of the Hestia Familia. Bell works very hard every day in the dungeon to make ends meet and to improve his skill ad adventurer. He was once saved by Ais Wallenstein, a famous and powerful swords-woman, to whom he looks up to and fell in love with. He is unaware that several girls, mortals and deities, also developed feelings for him, Hestia included…

March 2018 - Canaan

Oosawa Maria is a Japanese photographer currently working in Shanghai, China. Along with her partner Mino, she searches for potential newsworthy stories throughout the city. When strange events occur at a local festival, Maria and Mino immediately investigate. Quickly, the two are immersed in a battle between unknown masked men and a strange, white-haired woman. Just when Maria is about to be caught in the crossfire, an old friend by the name of Canaan appears and helps Maria escape. But a sinister plot over a deadly virus soon develops, and Canaan learns she must confront her past if she wants any chance at stopping the perpetrator and saving her friends.

February 2018 - Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World

Our February anime challenge is Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World, the anime that won the 2017 South African Anime Awards. It is a mystery and psychological fantasy that premiered last year in October and was produced by the anime house, Lerche.  The anime is based on the Kino no Tabi light novel series written by Keiichi Sigsawa. There was also a Kino no Tabi series in 2003, two Kino no Tabi visual novels, manga adaptations and two anime movies.

January 2018 - Highschool of the Dead

This month we have a special treat for Supernatural Action Horror fanatiks. If you liked Television shows such as The Walking Dead, games such as Resident Evil or movies such as Night of The Living Dead, then get ready to bite into this month’s anime challenge: Highschool of the Dead (shortened to HOTD by adoring fanatiks).
