Ryoma Echizen, the Prince of Tennis
Ryoma Echizen is the brainchild of Takeshi Konomi and the main character from the Prince of Tennis anime and manga. In the anime, when we first meet him, he is a twelve-year-old tennis prodigy who already won four consecutive Junior Tennis Tournaments in the USA. He is also the son of former tennis legend Nanjiro Echizen, nicknamed ‘Samurai Nanjiro’. He returned to Japan at his father’s request to attend Seishun Academy (“Seigaku”), a private middle school famous for its tennis team.
Ryoma Echizen is someone that does not go easy on himself and keeps pushing himself rather than resting. He shines at being a singles player, doubles are not really his forte but he did once play doubles with teammate Momoshiro Takeshi. He is known for his catchphrase in The Japanese Anime ‘Mada Mada Dane’, which loosely translates to ‘You still have lots more to work on’. Ryoma cares a lot about his family cat Karupin, and his mother sends him pictures of the cat daily on his cell phone.

Firstly the inclusion of arm and leg parts that are bendable just enhances the figurine so much that virtually any action tennis pose you can think off is available, oh and did we add the fact that his neck can be moved from right and left?! Add to that that there are three different facial expressions and giving one even a lot more possibilities to play around for the perfect display pose and we can say that this figurine is a winner. Having his pet cat Karupin is a nice little bonus as well. Ryoma Echizen, in his kawaii Nendoroid form it a must have for all Prince of Tennis Fanatik.
