Read or Die
Some fanatiks may remember the anime series Read or Die. The series started off with a 3-episode OVA (Original Video Anime) in 2001 and an anime series in 2003 and it is based on a series of novels written by Hideyuki Kurata. The novels tell us the tale of agent Yomiko Readman codename The Paper, who goes on missions for the British Library’s Special Operations Division, and at the same time trying to help a young novelist named Nenene Sumiregawa who she befriended during a mission.
On Thursday the wraparound jacket band on the 12th volume of the novel series shared that a new anime project is ‘under consideration’. There is also a quote on the jacket band by Tomonori Ochikosi, president of A-1 Pictures AND producer of the 2003 anime series that teases ongoing discussions. All this being said it seems that Read Or Die Fanatiks may soon see a new installment of The Paper, taking down some bad guys.
A second promo video for Nanbaka, the upcoming anime based on Shō Futamata’s Nanbaka manga began streaming this week. In Nanbaka’s director seat is Shinji Takamatsu (Gintama) and Mitsutaka Hirota (Bakumatsu Rock) is writing the scripts. The opening song, ‘Rin! Rin! Hi! Hi!’ will be performed by Super Ball and the ending ‘Nanbaka Jailbreak Theory’ by the cast members.
The anime’s main cast includes Yuuto Uemura, Tetsuya Kakihara, Airu Shiozaki, Daiki Kobayashi, Tomokazu Seki, Satomi Akesaka, Kenjiro Tsuda, Kimeru, Shouma Yamamoto, Sōichiro Hoshi, Shunsuke Takeuchi and Keito Okuyama. The anime will premiere this anime fall season.
The manga tells the tale of four prisoners: Jūgo, a man on extended jail time because he tried to break out of jail; Uno, a man who likes to play around with women; Rokku, fist-happy fighter; and Niko, an anime fanatik. And then there is their warden Hajime. The anime promises to be a high-tension action comedy.
