Hestia – Max Factory
If you have seen the anime DanMachi* then you most probably are acquainted with one of anime’s most beloved Goddesses, Hestia. In DanMachi she is the Goddess that is the head of the Hestia Familia and like the Greek Goddess of the Hearth after which she is named, she is the epiphany of home. She is a kawaii, beautiful and petite Goddess who in appearance looks like a young girl or teen. She has beautiful round blue eyes and lightly black hair that she always ties in two twin tails and it reaches down to her mid-thighs. Her favourite attire in the anime is a white mini dress with a blue ribbon around her collar and another blue ribbon tied under her breasts around her arms, and on her arms, she has a pair of elegant white gloves. Our pretty Kami-sama usually walks around barefoot but wears white flip-flops occasionally.
Hestia dreams of being in a relationship with her charge, the adventurous warrior Bell, and see all other women as her rivals in love. She is energetic, kind and a hard worker, proof of that is the way she worked two jobs to pay off a debt she made with Hephaestus to get Bell a specialized knife called the Hestia Knife. She and Bell are a perfect team. He tried to find a familia and she wanted to start one, both have tried to do that until they met each other. (A familia is a type of family guild adventurers belong to, which all have a deity as parental figure or family head).
Hestia is extremely popular; she has been one of the top choices for cosplayers to emulate. The anime website GoBoiano placed Hestia first on their list of ‘Top 22 Characters Who Transcended Their Series in 2015’. La Ricetta, an Italian restaurant in Zama, Kanagawa even features her in their pancakes. The Hestia-craze also caused free Hestia ribbons to be given away in Akihabara. Thanks to her there was a fashion trend in Japan where Japanese women walked about with a blue string underneath their breasts. Hestia really grabs the imagination of a lot of people!

Our Kami-sama, Hestia is posed in a very dynamic position. She has a happy facial expression as ‘she leaps around in the air’. There are two parts included to make two different possible poses for her; either showing her grabbing her dress or showing her hands raised above her head. She is wearing her famous tight white dress with the famous blue ribbons, of course. Her twin-tails are flying in the air to enhance the figurine’s ‘movement’.
Overall: An adoring 10
Paint Job – 10
The paint job was definitely added with a gentle hand to bring light to her beautiful features. Impeccable!
Sculpting – 10
The stunningly sculpted body and that expression on her face really capture the essence of the Goddess Hestia! She is beyond a doubt the anime figure resurrected from the anime, this is the kami-sama we cherish.
Design – 10
The design team made this figurine perfect perfection. The design is most definitely a perfect twin to the anime character.
Display Worth – 10
This figurine is so perfect for display; it hurts if you don’t have her.
In all seriousness, everybody wants this figurine to be part of his or her familia or collection. She should be enshrined as the anime deity she is. You just can’t find anything wrong with this figurine, because doing that may well be anime sacrilege! ‘nuff sed.
As mentioned, she was voted number one in the article ‘Top 22 Characters Who Transcended Their Series in 2015’ by the anime website GoBoiano. To read the article, please follow this link: http://bit.ly/Top-22-2015-Characters
