The Empire of Corpses released in English!
We bring you news on The Empire of Corpses, Fukigen na Mononokean and Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin III Akatsuki no Houki and share a very useful Honey Lemon Slices recipe.
The Empire of Corpses
Last October the movie The Empire of Corpses, based on the Steampunk Zombie novel by Project Ito, opened in theatres all over Japan. This movie is part of a three-movie project to celebrate the work of novelist Project Ito. There was, however, a scare last year when the animation house Manglobe went bankrupt but the new Geno Studio is taking over that project so we will still get to see the next two movies of the project, Harmony and Genocidal Organ. Earlier this week Funimation shared an English-dubbed clip from The Empire of Corpses. The English version is set to screen in selected theatres on April 19 and April 20.
The English cast includes Jason Liebrecht, J. Michael Tatum, Morgan Garrett, Sean Hennigan, R Bruce Elliott, Mike McFarland, Micah Solusod, Kenny Green, Todd Haberkorn and Greg Dulcie. Empire of Corpses plays off in a cyberpunk 19th century Europe and tells the tale of John Watson, a man scouted by the government to become a spy. In this alternate world setting, there are monsters that are like Dr. Frankenstein’s monsters, undead humans repossessed by false souls, used as slaves towards industrial development.

Fukigen na Mononokean (The Morose Mononokean)
Tokuma Japan posted a 100-second preview of the anime adaptation of Kiri Wazawa’s web manga series Fukigen na Mononokean. The preview video highlights its two protagonists Hanae Ashiya and Haruitsuki Abeno.
The anime is directed by Akira Iwanaga (ISUCA) and the series composition writer is Takao Yoshioka (High School DxD). On character design is Atsuko Kageyama while Yasuharu Takanishi (Fairy Tail) is composing the music. Fukigen na Mononokean is set to premiere in July 2016, but an advance screening event is set to take place on June 4th at United Cinemas Toyosu in Tokyo.
In the manga, our hero Ashiya spends seven days stuck in the infirmary thanks to a yōkai that attached itself to him. He eventually asks the owner of ‘Monokean”, a small tea room for help. Will they find a way to guide the yōkai back to its own world?
