Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin III Akatsuki no Hōki news update

The third movie episode in the Gundam Origin series, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin III Akatsuki no Hōki (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin III Dawn of Rebellion) is set to open in Japan on May 21st according to Sunrise’s official Gundam Portal site. Like the previous episodes, the movie will open in 15 theaters in Japan for two weeks.

The episode will continue the story of the youth who would become known as Char Aznable and his future comrade Garma Zabi after they join the Zeons’ military academy. The second episode in the series, “Artesia’s Sorrow,” opened in Japan last October.

The ‘Animation around Saga Prefecture’ project

In the ‘anime holy land’, Japan even prefectures have their own anime. Pony Canyon recently partnered with the Saga Prefecture to create a pair of short anime movies for the ‘Animation around Saga Prefecture’ project. Saga Prefecture native Junji Mishimura directs both films and it will feature animation by Seven Arcs Pictures.

The movies are to highlight Saga Prefecture’s culture. Yakusoku no Utsuwa: Arita no Hatsukoi meaning ‘Promised Vessel: First Love in Arita’ is the first movie and it is the tale of young love, set in the town of Arita, featuring the vocal talents of Hiro Shimono and Saori Hayami. The second movie, Fuyu no Chikai, Natsu no Matsuri: Takeo no Ōkusu (“Winter’s Vow, Summer’s Festival: The Big Camphor Tree of Takeo”), takes place across time and seasons and tells the story of a boy and a girl and a big Camphor tree. It takes place in the city of Takeoshi. starring the voices of Nao Tōyama and Nobunaga Shimazaki.

These movies are to screen at the Saga Prefectural Space and Science Museum in Takeo, Saga Prefecture, which starts on March 12, 2016. The first screening will also include a free live talk event featuring director Junji Nishimura.
