Mob Psycho 100 from the creator of One-Punch Man
According to Shogakukan’s web comic magazine Ura Sunday, it was announced that a television anime adaptation of ONE’s Mob Psycho 100 manga has been approved. The anime will air sometime in 2016. ONE is a Japanese manga artist (mangaka), best known for his manga series One-Punch Man which was adapted into an anime that is currently running.
Mangaka ONE launched the Mob Psycho 100 series on Ura Sunday in 2012 and Shogakukan will publish the 11th compiled book volume of the manga on Friday. Earlier this year Ura Sunday asked their readers to vote for which of its manga should get an anime adaptation, and Mob Psycho 100 was among those titles that received the most votes. According to Shogakukan, studio Bones (Fullmetal Alchemist, Eureka Seven) will produce the anime.
Mob Psycho 100 tells the tale of Kageyama Shigeo, an average middle school boy nicknamed Mob (Which means John Doe) thanks to the fact that he does not stand out amongst people. He actually keeps a low profile because he learned that he is a powerful esper and his powers will go wildly out of control when his emotional capacity reaches 100%. Fighting his own psychic powers, he lives under self-induced emotional shackles, wishing he could live like others, but there are always problems. As the suppressed emotions grow inside him little by little, will his power on day burst free and create havoc? We will have to wait until next year to find out.
Included in the series are colorful characters like Reigen Arataka Mob’s master, Self-Proclaimed Psychic, and is good at all kinds of fraud and skills of speech, perceptive, clever and agile, claiming himself has a greenbelt of Shaolin boxing. He is very afraid of cockroaches and likes dogs. Then there is who is an upper-class evil spirit, claiming to be Mob’s partner, characterized by the circle blush on his cheeks. In order to become a god worshiped by people, he established a religion called (LOL). He can possess others and release their full potential. Lastly, there is Kageyama Ritsu, who is Mob’s younger brother. He doesn’t have ESP power. Because Mob is a strong Esper, Ritsu has always had an inferiority complex and wants to get ESP power.
With an array of characters like these, this new anime will be just as addictive as One-Punch Man. To see the announcement, please follow this link, but be warned the article is in Japanese: http://bit.ly/Mob-Psycho-100-announcement
