Celebrate spring season with Japanese cuisine
While the citizens of Japan celebrate Fall this month, in South Africa, the Japanese Community celebrates Spring. The venue will be held on the tenth of October 2015 in Johannesburg hosted by “The Nippon Club of South Africa”.
The Nippon Club of South Africa (Nan A Nihonjihkai) started in the 1960s as a social club for Japanese nationals in the vicinity of Johannesburg. It is the only Japanese club of its kind in South Africa. The have a dual-purpose – to help enhance the unity of the South African Japanese Community and to ensure the evolution of relationships with the people of South Africa. They operate through various events to promote cultural as well as business relationships.
The Spring Festival will feature some nice Japanese delicacies to sample as well as enjoy forms of Japanese cultural entertainment. It is a nice way for our two cultures to meet and learn more from each other, an opportunity for even more new bonds to be created.
If you are in Johannesburg on the 10th of October or feel like a road trip to experience some local Japanese culture in South Africa here are some information for you:
Date: October 10 (In case it rains the festival will be held on the 11th of October)

Warning to all thinking of going to the Spring Festival – The bridge over Emmarantia Dam is closed for road work for the rest of the year, so rather take an alternate route.
