New movie by Mamoru Hosoda (Wolf Children) slated for July, 2015

Wolf Children was big, and I mean BIG when the movie came out. If you have seen the movie, then you can understand the excitement that comes with the news that Mamoru Hosoda is releasing a new movie come July.

The movie’s name will be Bakemono no Ko (The Boy and the Beast) and will be Hosoda’s first film in three years since his successful Wolf Children in 2012. It is an original story and screenplay set in two worlds: Shibuya, Japan as well as Jutengai, the bakemono’s world. It is about a boy that strays into the world of beasts and encounter Kumatetsu, a bear-like swordsman. He becomes the swordsman’s apprentice and Kumatetsu names him Kyuta. The movie is about Kyuta’s training as well as his adventures with Kumatetsu.

This movie project actually started in 2012, just after Wolf Children and after 13 months of preparation and plot development, Hosoda spent four months writing the screenplay.

Casting has not begun yet, but we know it will be sugoi because of the great casting that was chosen for Wolf Children. This is something to look forward to so mark your desk planners, minna!
